The 18th official bootleg of Dream Theater is a demo of their 14th album "Distance Over Time"! Dream Theater, the kings of progressive metal, have been regularly releasing their treasured live, demo, and studio outtakes as official bootlegs in the "Lost Not Forgotten Archives" (=Lost Not Forgotten Sound Source Collection) series. The 18th volume in the series is a demo of the band's 14th album, "Distance Over Time," which will be released for the first time in 2019. Distance Over Time, the first in the Inside Out/Sony Music transfer, was recorded at Yonder Barn, a secluded studio on a 5-acre property in Monticello, NY. The band moved into a country house on the property and completed the project in a camp style, with all members meeting daily to eat and sleep together. At the time, John Petrucci (G) said, "Our goal was to go back to our roots and create an organic and powerful album that came from a physical approach.We collaborated in this way to create concise music that is truly enjoyable to play," he says, adding, "The Astonishing" is the complete opposite of the previous album, "The Astonishing," which was a grand rock opera-style concept album with an orchestra, with compact, catchy songs and a tight band ensemble. The result is a work that allows the listener to enjoy the tight band ensemble in a straightforward manner. This demo is an instrumental recording of the arrangements of these songs in the order in which they were created by the instrumentalists.
