Veteran bassist Buster Williams has been performing since the 1960s, playing with Sonny Stitt, Gene Ammons, Dexter Gordon, and others, as well as backing Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughan, and others, and recording albums with them. Based in New York City, he has been active in the music business to this day, performing with such greats as Miles Davis, Art Blakey, McCoy Tyner, Sonny Rollins, and many others. He is a popular bassist in Japan, having appeared as a member of Benny Golson's quartet in the movie "Terminal" starring Tom Hanks.This album features George Corrigan, a gifted pianist who has worked with the band for many years and has recorded with Steeple Chase, Criss Cross, and others, as well as Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, and other great drummers who have played in their bands, Lenny White, a drummer who has played in the bands of Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, and others. New members also include Gene Baylor, a female R&B singer known for her work as the R&B duo Janay in the 1990s, saxophonist Bruce Williams, and vibraphonist Stephon Harris. The title "Unalome" is a Buddhist symbol that represents the path to personal transcendence and enlightenment, concepts that Buster Williams, a devout Buddhist, has explored throughout his life and career. He states. I believe that life should be a series of ascending steps. And Unalome is the latest step in a glorious journey that I have certainly taken so far." Throughout the album, the songs are more moist, and the compositions make the most of Gene Baylor's elongated voice and the light tones of his vibraphone.
