Mozart (1756-1791)
Description:
Ansnes portrays the true value of Mozart at the peak of his career. This is the conclusion of "Mozart Momentum," a project by Leif Ove Ansnes and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra to perform and record Mozart's masterpieces centered on the five piano concertos No. 20 through No. 24 written in 1785 and 1786, the peak of Mozart's Viennese period. The project is the final installment of the "Mozart Momentum" project. The two-disc set from 1786, the year he wrote his magnum opus "The Marriage of Figaro," also features a star-studded array of masterpieces from the Vienna period. The two piano concertos No. 23 and No. 24 are placed at either end of the set, and the set includes two chamber pieces, a rondo for solo piano, and a concert aria. As with the first recording, the worldwide outbreak of the new Corona virus forced the cancellation of the scheduled concerts, but fortunately the session recording was made at the Vienna Musikverein under the Corona. Born in Karmøy, Norway, in 1970, he studied at the Bergen Conservatory. Born in Karmøy, Norway in 1970, he studied at the Bergen Conservatory and made his debut in Oslo in 1987.
