Mozart (1756-1791)

Description:

Beyond the master pianist and the Corona Disaster, into the depths of Mozart. Mozart Momentum" is the long-awaited sequel to the internationally acclaimed "Beethoven Journey," which has sold 90,000 copies worldwide and is based around the performance and recording of all of Beethoven's piano concertos by Leif Ove Ansnes and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. This 4-CD set of masterpieces centered around the five piano concertos No. 20 through No. 24 written during the two years of Mozart's Viennese period (1785 and 1786) will be released in two installments, the 1785 edition and the 1786 edition, as a 2-CD set. The 1785 edition, which will be released first, is literally a collection of masterpieces from the Vienna period. In addition to the three highly individualistic piano concertos Nos. 20, 21, and 22, it also includes the G minor Piano Quartet No. 1, the C minor Fantasy, and the shady "Funeral Music for a Freemason. The concerto in particular is conceived in a way that greatly develops the dialogue and communication between soloist and orchestra, and the process of creating Mozart's diverse musical language is readily apparent. This is the first recording for Ansnes except for Concerto No. 20, which was recorded with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. This project was also affected by the worldwide outbreak of the new corona virus in 2020, forcing the cancellation of scheduled concerts, but fortunately the three piano concertos were session-recorded at the Berlin Philharmonic despite the corona. In an interview, Ansnes himself said, "It is a small miracle. Working with such talented musicians as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra was a great inspiration. Throughout the 1780s, Mozart matured as a composer at an incredible rate. How did that happen? What happened? This shows that Mozart's creativity at that time had reached an extreme point. He produced piece after piece like an impulse that could proudly demonstrate his abilities as a composer, pianist, and virtuoso improviser." (Rayfo Ove Ansnes, Sony Music)
