ICE-T and his best friend from high school, Ernie C, formed the band BODY COUNT as a fusion of metal, punk, and rap music, which they both love. The band's debut album, "Body Count", was released in 1992, but was cancelled due to controversy over its radical message against the police and state power. After the release of their last album "Bloodlust" three years ago, the band's situation changed. The band was nominated for "Best Metal Performance" at the 60th Grammy Awards and made a big splash by playing the nominated song "Black Hoodie" at the ceremony. The band's latest release, "Carnivore," boasts a ferocious sound that lives up to its title, and is released amidst an unprecedented level of attention. The band celebrates its 30th anniversary with this seventh album, and the combination of ICE-T's angry, socially critical lyrics and Ernie C's thunderous guitar riffs is an enduring combination.The previous album "Bloodlust" featured guests Dave Mustaine (MEGADETH), Max Cavalera (SOULFLY/former SEPULTURA), and Randy Blythe (LAMB OF GOD), and included a stunning cover of SLAYER's "Raining In Blood / Postmortem 2017" was also included on the album. This album follows the same trend. Guests include Dave Lombardo (ex-SLAYER), Riley Gale (POWER TRIP), Amy Lee (EVANECENCE), and Jamey Jasta (HATEBREED) following their last album "Manslaughter" in 2014. As is customary for metal covers, the band chose Motorhead's "Ace of Spades" as a tribute to Lemmy Kilmister. (This cover song was also performed as the first song at "Wacken Open Air" in Germany last year, and the audience was excited.)The album also includes a self-cover of ICE-T's 1988 hit "Colors" and "When I'm Gone (feat. Amy Lee)," a song inspired by the death of Nipsey Hussle, who was shot to death. The album cover by Zbigniew M. Bielak, who did the artwork for GHOST's "Prequelle," is also noteworthy for its strong impact. The limited 2CD box set includes the live tracks "6 In The Morning," "No Lives Matter," and "Black Hoodie," which are updated versions of ICE-T's past songs for 2020, as bonus tracks. In addition, instrumental versions of all 10 songs from the album are included.
