Hille's new work, "Ballad in a Dream," features lute and theorbo player Andreas Arendt, soprano Claire Wilkinson, and violinist Veronika Skuplik in a dreamy, magical, sentimental, and joyful performance of a variety of English Baroque composers. The program traces the diverse music of composers of the English Baroque period, which is dreamy, magical, sentimental, and joyful at the same time. Beginning with the elegant "Love Song" by Henry Purcell's teacher, John Brough, the program will then move on to "Out of the Woods" based on Shakespeare's famous poem from "A Summer Night's Dream," Henry Purcell's famous "Music for a Moment" and "Have You Seen the White Lilies in Bloom," and a selection of works by Robert Johnson, famous works by composers such as Francis Pilkington, and traditional folk melodies such as "Greensleeves."Interspersed along the way with unusual works for strings by Eccles, Simpson, and Finger, the songs are engaging, with tales and allegorical songs handed down in England and elsewhere.
