Gerhaherl's Lieder recordings for the Artenova label, which began with the classic "Schubert: The Three Great Lieder," already include the major repertoire of German songs by Schubert, Schumann, Mahler, Brahms, Wolf, and others, and this album is the result of Gerhaherl finally undertaking his This album is the first volume of his big project, "Schumann: The Complete Lieder".Gerhaherl himself has stated that this is "the most important project of my life," and this is literally a recording of his entire career. In the 2000s, Gerhaherl released two highly acclaimed collections of Schumann songs, including "The Poet's Love" and "Leader Kreis," but this complete collection is the definitive recording, reflecting the deepening of Gerhaherl's singing in recent years and his even deeper reading of the score. This first volume consists mainly of "Twelve Poems, Op. 35" by Kellner.
