Outstanding technique and sensitive ensemble! The up-and-coming Belfiato Quintet records Reicher's woodwind quintets! The Belfiato Quintet is an up-and-coming woodwind quintet based in the Czech Republic. The group's debut album (SU 4230), featuring works by native Czech composers Ferstel, Haas, and Janacek, also showcased their outstanding skills. In November 2017, he also made a much-anticipated tour of Japan. The highly anticipated second program is also a woodwind quintet by Czech composer Reicher (Leja). Born in Prague in 1770, Reicha was orphaned at the age of 10 and taken in by his uncle Joseph Reicha, a cellist and composer. In 1789, he entered the University of Bonn with Beethoven. Studied under Haydn, Reichert's works were influenced by the Mannheim School and the Viennese School.Known as the "father of the woodwind quintet," Reichert composed Op. 88 (1817), Op. 91 (1818), Op. 99 (1819), and Op. 100 (1820) (each of which consists of six pieces), leaving a total of 24 pieces for woodwind quintet. The works recorded here are three of them and are the most important repertoire of woodwind quintets.
