Description:

An ensemble of exceptional musicianship! Kaleidoscopic Chamber Collective! Three rare works by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor! The spirited ensemble plays "Mahler in Africa"! Formed by pianist Tom Poster and violinist Elena Urioste, who met through BBC Radio 3's New Generation Artists Scheme, Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective is a charismatic ensemble of young musicians who are known for their charismatic programming and musical excellence. Formed by pianist Tom Poster and violinist Elena Urioste, who met through the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists Scheme, the ensemble has been enchanting audiences with its charismatic programming and outstanding musicianship, and its latest release is a collection of early chamber works by British composer of Sierra Leonean descent, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor (1875-1912)! It includes three valuable works (all in minor) that were never published during his lifetime. Samuel Coleridge-Taylor became well known for his cantata "The Wedding Feast of Hiawatha," and his performance tours to the United States were so successful that he was called the "Mahler of Africa. All of the pieces on this album were composed between 1893 and 1994 while he was a student at the Royal College of Music (RCM) in London, and were never published during his lifetime.Although performance editions were only created in the early 2000s from materials in the RCM archives, the Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective has once again examined the manuscripts and corrected many of the inaccuracies contained in those editions. The spirited ensemble's performance is a rare glimpse into the precocious creative genius of the late Coleridge-Taylor, who died at the young age of 37. Tokyo M-Plus
