Lorti Plays Chopin Volume 6! Military Polonaise & "La Chi-Dalem Variations"! The charismatic Canadian pianist Louis Lortie has spent the last 10 years since the first volume (CHAN10588), which started in 2010, carefully weaving the sixth volume of the "Lortie Plays Chopin" series. Continuing from the previous volume (CHAN10943), this volume focuses on the mazurkas and polonaises that are closely connected to the Polish identity, as well as the piano version from "La chi dalem variation" (Variations on the theme from "Don Giovanni"), the first piece for piano and orchestra written by the 17-year-old Chopin. The piano version of "La ci dalem variation" (Variations on a Theme from "Don Giovanni") and "Fantasy in F minor," which demonstrates the brilliant improvisational style of Chopin's late period, will be performed on the famous Italian instrument Fazioli Piano. Of course, the powerful and heroic masterpiece "Military Polonaise" will also be featured! French-Canadian pianist Louis Lortie won the first prize at the 36th Busoni International Piano Competition in 1984 and the fourth prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition the same year.Although he has a diverse repertoire, he is known as one of the best Chopin players, and his debut recording of "Chopin: The Complete Exercises" (CHAN8482), recorded in 1986, is still highly regarded as Lortie's original and greatest work, and has been praised by the BBC Music Magazine as BBC Music Magazine called it "one of the 50 greatest performances by a peerless pianist.
