The DEFINITIVE EDITION of the third PEANUTS animated film "Snoopy and the Great Pumpkin" soundtrack, which first aired on TV on October 27, 1966, is now available with additional previously unreleased tracks. The CD, which includes familiar theme songs such as "Linus & Lucy" and "Charlie Brown's Theme," as well as the Halloween-specific "Great Pumpkin Theme," was first commercialized in 2018, but this edition uses the recently discovered original tapes and is edited for the TV special with musical cues recorded by Vince and crew before, in the order of the show, and a selection of alternate takes. The Mendelsons (Lee Mendelson was the executive producer of the TV special) had the opportunity to dig deep into the archives during the pandemic downturn and discovered what had previously been thought to be lost over time, leading to this release.This music was recorded on October 4, 1966 at DeSille's Gower Street Studios in Hollywood, California, with Galardi (piano) and his longtime friends and trio of sidemen, Monty Budwig on bass and Colin Bailey on drums, plus Emmanuel Klein (trumpet), Emmanuel Klein John Gray (guitar) and Ronald Lang (woodwinds). Composed, arranged, and conducted by John Scott Trotter, who was Bing Crosby's musical director for 30 years and a close friend.
