This is the first collaboration between Mike Stern, a guitarist who played in Miles Davis' group in the early 80's when the LP was still in its infancy, and Jeff Lorber Fusion, led by keyboardist Jeff Lorber, whose albums such as "Wizard Island" were big hits. Jeff Lorber Fusion and Miles Davis used to play at the same festivals, and I've always been a fan of Mike's work," said Jeff. And Jeff, "Of course I knew Jeff, too. I'd heard so many good things about him. But I never really listened to him, because I was in a different scene at the time," said Stern. Rover is an L.A. electric maestro and one of the pioneers of post-fusion music, with a radio-friendly, groove-oriented, instrumental style.Stern is a New York native who has played with bands such as Jaco Pastorius, Michael Brecker, and Joe Henderson, as well as groups such as Steps Ahead, Vital Information, and Brecker Brothers, and has released 18 albums as a leader on his own.
