Malcolm Sargent (1895-1967), a famous British conductor along with Beecham, Boult, and Barbirolli, was appointed chorus director of the Royal Choral Society in 1928 and conducted the premiere of Walton's "Belshazzar's Feast" in 1931. He is said to be the conductor most beloved by British audiences. He is also famous for being a regular conductor of the "Proms" in London. This box contains a representative selection of Sargent's recordings for the former EMI, including the Rossini Overtures with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, "Fate" and "Unfinished" with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
