Description:
This is a collection of small pieces written for keyboard from the 16th and 17th centuries. The clavichord, a small instrument invented around the 14th century, is used in this work. The tone is delicate, and although it is smaller than the harpsichord and other instruments, if you listen carefully, you can enjoy its versatile expressive power. The player, Terence Charleston, is one of Europe's foremost experts on Renaissance music and has written a detailed article on the French clavichord. This disc offers a rich taste of its liturgical sound, recorded in 2014. (C)RS
