A recording of Telemann's unaccompanied works by Rezborg that is sure to become as famous as the Bach recordings! Gunar Retzbowl is a master of the ancient violin world and a conductor of Ars Antiqua Austria, and his "Rosary Sonatas" (PC-10409 / KKC-6182), released in 2020, received very high acclaim. The next new album by Gunnar Retzbowl will be released in 2020. Following J.S. Bach's Unaccompanied Sonatas (PC-10286, PC-10298), this is his next solo recording of great interest. Telemann published his unaccompanied Fantasias for flute, viola da gamba, violin, and harpsichord in Hamburg in the 1730s. Each is a masterpiece of his growing compositional skills and deep understanding of the instruments. The 12 Fantasias for Violin skillfully combine the polyphonic style rooted in the German tradition, as represented by the fugues, with the Gallant style and the then-popular style of Italian sonatas and concertos.
