The Zurich Zing Academy was founded in 2011. While performing mainly in Switzerland, the ensemble has also performed in Germany, Italy, Israel, the Netherlands, Lebanon, Taiwan, China, and other countries. The choir has performed at many music festivals and is known worldwide for its appearances at the BBC Proms. This album contains unaccompanied choral works by leading Swiss composer Frank Martin (1890-1974) and his contemporaries.Martin studied in Zurich, Rome, and Paris, and after being influenced by César Franck and the Impressionists, he developed his own unique style of lyricism with a modern sound. This album contains a wide range of his compositions, from a motet composed when he was 19 years old to his last cantata composed in 1974, a few months before his death. The album also includes choral works by other composers who lived at about the same time as Martin. This is a rich album that allows us to enjoy Martin's works as well as unaccompanied choral music of the 20th century. (King International)
