In 2014, the 150th anniversary year of Richard Strauss' (1864-1949) birth, his operas were actively performed in many parts of the world. Among them were such unusual works as this "Crisis of Fire." His second opera, "Fire Crisis," was written in 1901 and is a "fairy tale opera" sung entirely in the Munich dialect. The entire opera is rarely performed, and only the "love scene" is known, but it is an interesting opera full of beautiful melodies. However, being a cynic by nature, Strauss also included a variety of satire in this production. The story is that the wizard Kunrat, having been teased by the townspeople, extinguishes all the fires and lights in Munich in order to get back at them.Yes, it was the town that inhibited the great Wagner, and Strauss was also cold in Munich. Please enjoy Strauss's spirit as he secretly got back at them in his works.
