A 3-LP vinyl set is also being released simultaneously! Laurie Anderson is one of the boldest creative pioneers in the American contemporary art scene. For over 40 years, she has challenged audiences worldwide while simultaneously moving them deeply through her diverse body of work spanning music, visual art, poetry, film, and photography. Nonesuch Records is releasing *LETX=X*, an album capturing the electrifying live performance by Laurie Anderson and her jazz band, Sex Mob, from 2023. *LETX=X* consists of 23 tracks across a 2-CD set or a 3-LP set. Joining Laurie Anderson for this magnificent live performance are an exceptionally powerful lineup featuring Steven Bernstein and Briggan Kraus (brass), Kenny Wolsen (percussion), Douglas Wieselmann (wind instruments, guitar), and Tony Shearer (bass)—an exceptionally powerful lineup. The tracks include new arrangements of many of her favorite songs that have highlighted her illustrious career, as well as a cover of “Junior Dad” by Lou Reed and Metallica. Additionally, “Let X=X”—a track from her seminal album *BIGSCIENCE* and the title track of this new release—is currently available as a lead single from the album. Furthermore, the album cover and inner packaging feature paintings created by Anderson herself. The New York Times reviewed their concert at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) as follows: “This was by no means a historical reenactment of past recordings. The sound produced by Sex Mob is far richer than that of Anderson’s original albums. With a lineup of exceptional musicians capable of playing both electric guitar and bass clarinet, they presented a rich and varied array of textures throughout the evening.” Here lies a new sonic journey born from the encounter between Laurie Anderson—one of the greatest contemporary popular artists and an exceptional storyteller—and a jazz combo.
