Piano Arrangements for Hitchcock Films! Trace the film music of master director Alfred Hitchcock on piano! Includes many numbers from masterpieces in which music is intimately involved, such as "The Man Who Knew Too Much," "Vertigo," "Back Window," "Psycho," and many more! Performed by Italian pianist Matteo Monico, who is also actively involved in film music! A journey through the soundtracks of the golden age of cinema. This is an excellent project that traces the music of the works of Alfred Hitchcock, the "master of suspense" and "god of thrillers" in the world of cinema, on the piano. Gounod's "Funeral March of the Puppet," which opens the program, was not directly used in the film, but is familiar as the opening theme for the hit TV program "Hitchcock Theater (Alfred Hitchcock Presents). This album delves into the intersection of film and music in the work of Alfred Hitchcock and his collaborators. The subject matter by Herman, Rosa, Waxman, and Williams emerges not as mere background, but as a main character in its own right. The music chosen spans genres and moods of suspense, irony, romance, and anxiety, reflecting the complexity of Hitchcock's visual storytelling. Some of these pieces of music played pivotal roles in the narrative. For example, in "The Man Who Knew Too Much," music serves as a plot device and an emotional climax. Others, such as "Vertigo" and "Back Window," portray atmosphere and characters with a precision that transcends the visuals. An emblematic example of the creative synergy between composer and director is the music for the film Psycho. Alongside the psychological tension of the masterpiece, lighter moments also surface, such as the strange and elegant humor of "Harry's Disaster." The album is a portrait of the sound of mid-century cinema, with snippets of pop culture, memories, and the passions of film enthusiasts all condensed into one.Diegetic music (the music heard by the characters in the play), such as Poulenc's "Evergreen No. 1" in "Rope," is also part of this mosaic. As a result, the collection is both an independent work in its own right and an echo of the enduring legacy of classic cinema. Matteo Monico is an Italian pianist. He studied piano at the Conservatorio Guido Cantelli in Novara and the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, where he graduated with top marks. She has participated in numerous master classes with renowned pianists such as Jeffrey Swan and Roberto Prosseda. He has performed in major halls and festivals throughout Italy, and has a deep interest in and knowledge of film music in particular. Tokyo M-Plus
