Description:
Noriko Ogawa begins her recording of Satie's complete works for solo piano! The new recording of the complete works for solo piano by Erik Satie (1866-1925), who was active in France from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. In 1905, he went to the Schola Cantorum to relearn composition under Dandy. As his fame as a composer grew, he attracted the attention and friendship of prominent artists such as Jean Cocteau and Picasso. He soon created a world of his own, pursuing the satirical nature of his themes as well as the uninhibited and unrestrained expression of pure musical sensibility. The first collection includes the famous three Gymnopedies (titled "The Naked Dances of the Ancient Spartan Festival of Dionysus"), recorded in August and September 2015 in the studio of the Tokyo College of Music, where he currently serves as a visiting professor. The instrument used was an 1890 Erard piano, the same instrument used by Satie when she composed many of her piano pieces.The highly anticipated first collection in the series, which pursues the sound of the time, will be released in July, the 150th anniversary of his birth.
