Description:
Emel is an up-and-coming female Tunisian SSW whose song "KelmtiHorra (My Word Is Free)," recorded in 2007, was sung as an anthem during the Arab Spring, a period of large-scale anti-government protests and uprisings in the Arab world, and attracted attention in many places. In 2012, she released her debut album "Kelmuti Ollah" with a strong political message, and in 2015, she performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony. Now, after a four-year absence, he has completed a new album, "Human (Insan)". On this, her second album, Emel incorporates a fusion of acoustic and electronic sounds in her own unique style. Among her influences are James Blake, electro-noise genius Ben Frost, and Icelandic trio Samaris. Recording took place in seven countries and involved several producers.The main collaborator is French/Tunisian producer Amine Metani, and other producers include Vargail Sigurdsson of Sigur Rós. The result is an exotic album that blends acoustic, piano, and North African drum sounds with unique electro beats!
