Tamsin Waley-Cohen, a brilliant young British woman who plays a Stradivarius "ex-Fenyves" made in 1721, will present her fourth release of Signum, "Unaccompanied Violin Works"! For her first unaccompanied program, Waley-Cohen has assembled a program of modern and contemporary works by Benjamin, Carter, Penderecki, and Kurtág, all composed after 1944, starting with Bartók's "Sonata for Solo Violin". The beautiful British virtuoso, who has been actively involved in performing contemporary works, including premieres of new works by Torsten Rush, Joseph Phibbs, Richard Causton, and others, will use her famous instrument and well-honed sensibility to portray the profound appeal of unaccompanied works from 1944 onward. --The concert will be held at the Birmingham Philharmonic Hall in the United States.
