In April 1972, the Grateful Dead embarked on a 22-show European tour, their first outside of North America. This memorable first European tour, which began on April 7, 1972 at the Empire Pool in Wembly, London, and continued through May 26 at the Lyceum Theatre in London, is now available on a three-LP set, EUROPE '72, a selection of the best moments from the 22 shows in six countries for thousands of Europeans. Released in November of 1972, the live show was a huge critical and commercial success and is still recognized as an essential part of the Dead's live legacy and a favorite of Dead fans for generations to come. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the release of EUROPE '72, an anniversary edition of this seminal live album and masterpiece from 1972 is being released, along with a performance at the Lyceum Theatre in London on May 26, 1972, the final show of the tour. LYCEUM THEATRE, LONDON, ENGLAND 5/26/72" is a 4-CD collection of the performance at the Lyceum Theatre in London on May 26, 1972, the final date of the tour! This 4-CD set spotlights the epic final performance of the Grateful Dead's European tour.Notably, it was also the last live performance featuring Ron Pigpen McKernan, one of the band's founding members, who died in March 1973, the year after this tour. Despite his failing health at the time, Pigpen's charismatic performances of songs like "Chinatown Shuffle," "Good Lovin'," and "The Stranger" made a huge impact on European audiences.
