JAZZ Q PRAHA was the predecessor of JAZZ Q PRAHA, which had been active since the 60's. Along with THE PLASTIC PEOPLE OF THE UNIVERSE, JAZZ Q continued to be active under the leadership of Martin Kratochvil (key/p) despite the severe political repression. The live performance was recorded in Pruzeny, Czech Republic in the same year after the release of "HODOKVAS" in 1980, and was re-mastered from a newly discovered live tape at Martin's home. The live tapes were newly discovered at Martin's home and remastered. The quartet consists of Martin, Frantisek Francl (g), Vladimir Padrunek (b), and Pavel Trnavsky (drs), as in "HODOKVAS".In addition to 'Pralesni pisen' and 'Madona' from "HODOKVAS", there was also 'Trhanec', which had already taken shape by this point and would appear on the next album "HVEZDON", the single 'Pecet', released in 1979, and a studio version that did not exist. The live version of 'Az Se Ucho Utrhne' was included in the expanded reissue of "HODOKVAS" in 2010, and was only released officially in a live version in 1979. The sound follows the same laid-back jazz rock and fusion sound as the studio album, with a melancholic expression created by the clawed guitars and synths, and a mellow and fantastic expanse created by the synths, reminiscent of North American crossover sounds such as WEATHER REPORT. It is different from the open style of "HVEZDON", which is reminiscent of North American crossover sounds such as WEATHER REPORT, and is full of the relaxed elegance characteristic of this period!
