Johnny Winter

Description:

Born February 23, 1944 in Beaumont, Texas, USA. Raised in a musical family, he played clarinet as a child, but later switched to guitar and formed a band at the age of 15, which marked the beginning of his professional debut with Johnny and the Jammers, which he formed with his brother Edgar in 1962. His blues-rooted guitar playing was well received, and in 1969 he signed a huge contract with CBS. In the following decade, he released a series of blues-based rock albums and became an established guitarist, but his activities declined after the late 1980s due to poor health, and in 2011 he made his long-awaited first tour of Japan. However, in July 2014, he passed away at the age of 70. Here is a rare live archive of Johnny Winter from the early 1970s! Johnny Winter formed a new band "Johnny Winter and" for his third album, and started touring after the album release. From this tour, the drummer was Bobby Caldwell, a technical drummer who later joined Captain Beyond - Armageddon. This album captures the September 25, 1970 concert in Chicago, and includes the complete concert including encores. This is a performance at the height of the band's groove, and Johnny Winter's guitar playing is brilliant.Rick Dellinger, who passed away suddenly in May 2025, will also perform on guitar, surpassing Johnny Winter. This is a highly anticipated release for fans, as half of the songs on the album do not overlap with the live album to be released the following year! Imported domestic edition with Japanese obi and bilingual liner notes in English. Johnny Winter (g, vo) Rick Dellinger (g) Randy Joe Hobbs (b) Bobby Caldwell (ds)
