Triumvirat

Description:

Triumvirate was formed in 1969 in Cologne, Germany. The band was named after the unique political style of the Roman Empire in B.C., and consisted of three members (keyboards, guitar & bass, and drums), and although the band was greatly influenced by the musical styles of The Nice and Emerson Lake & Palmer, it gradually developed its originality as a band. In 1974, the band began recording a new album. The album, consisting of two suites of songs, was well received by FM stations in the U.S. and reached the top of the airplay charts, leading to its release in the U.S. The album was also released in the U.S.The band also opened for Fleetwood Mac and played 41 concerts in the U.S., and the album reached No. 55 on the U.S. album charts. Prior to this tour, the band performed a studio show for radio promotion at Ultrasonic Recording Studios in New York City on October 1 of the same year, performing two medleys from the album in their entirety. This live album is a complete recording of this studio show. Jürgen Fritz's playing overwhelmed the audience with a technical and dramatic performance that was influenced by Keith Emerson but surpassed it. Incidentally, the opening number is from the next album. The success of this album led to the release of "Spartacus" in 1975, which reached No. 27 on the U.S. album chart. The album includes an additional bonus track, a performance from the following year's U.S. tour.
