Description:

QUIN' KRANTZ" is a five-piece contemporary jazz band from Nagoya, Japan. Immediately after the release of their second album, Corona struck the band, forcing them to cancel their release tour, which included stops at the now-defunct Blue Note in Nagoya and Motion Blue in Yokohama. In April 2018, they released their first album "QUIN' KRANTZ". On the first day of the release commemorative live, they made their debut at Shibuya JZ Brat Sound of Tokyo. Since then, he has been featured in magazines such as JAZZ JAPAN, Jazz Life, internet radio JJAZZ.NET, CBC Radio, etc., and received high acclaim. The band's sound was strengthened through numerous tours, appearances at jazz festivals and events, and the second album was completed after new songs were written.Composer Ito has studied and played music at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, New York, and in the Netherlands, famous for hosting the North Sea Jazz Festival, and his music reflects the knowledge and inspiration he has gained from these experiences. More than half of the songs on this album begin with guitar-driven intros, and many guitar ad-libs are also used, making this album a guitarist-leader's album. The new songs (tr3, tr9) employ a gut guitar to broaden the acoustic sound, and numbers (tr1, tr4) actively incorporate a driving sound to give the sound momentum, making the album a work with a clear balance between slow and fast. Hiroshi Kimura, the only Tokyo-based drummer on the album, also makes his presence felt with his drumming on numbers (tr2, tr4, tr7) that include drum solos, especially on "AlfaRed" (tr4), which is a white-hot performance. The title track, "Lead" (tr6), is a lyrical ballad that wishes for music to "lead the way" in a difficult world. The new album is inspired by the image of pioneers who face adversity and pave the way for the future.
