Forty years have passed since the immortal masterpiece "Lupin the Third: Cagliostro's Castle". The original author Monkey Punch's long-cherished wish for a 3DCG film version of "Lupin the Third" has come to Blu-ray and DVD after a 23-year absence! Lupin the Third" began in 1967 as a serialization in "Manga Action" magazine. In 1971, the TV animation "Lupin the Third" (Part 1) was broadcasted, and in 1977, the TV animation "Lupin the Third" (Part 2) was broadcasted, showing the cool yet comical appearance of Lupin in his red jacket. His funny and comical appearance captured the hearts of many, and his popularity remained unshakeable. The series has since produced a number of masterpieces that are still loved today, including "Lupin III: Lupin vs. the Copy Man" (1978), the first film version of the series, and "Lupin III: Cagliostro's Castle" (1979), the first film directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Forty years after the immortal masterpiece "Cagliostro's Castle," Japan's leading VFX artist Takashi Yamazaki ("STAND BY ME Doraemon," "Dragon Quest: Your Story") has decided to produce the first 3DCG animation film in the series in 23 years! This project is a long-cherished dream of the original author, Monkey Punch, who passed away in April 2019, and he had been looking forward to the completion of this work, commenting "It's exciting" when he saw the character setting materials of the 3DCG version of the Lupin gang. The subtitle of the film, "THE FIRST," refers to the fact that the Bresson Diary, which appears in the film, is the only treasure that Lupin I failed to steal, and also to the fact that the film is the first in a new era of "Lupin the Third," with Takashi Yamazaki as the new director and the first 3DCG animation in the series. The 3DCG version of "Lupin the Third" will steal the hearts of the Japanese audience on Blu-ray and DVD.
