Tamara Stefanović’s Contemporary Jazz Project! The 21st release from Berlin’s luxury label “bastillemusique”! Contemporary music featuring Tamara Stefanović in collaboration with a jazz trio! The 21st album released by the Berlin-based luxury label “bastillemusique” is an avant-garde jazz and contemporary music project featuring Tamara Stefanović collaborating with a jazz trio consisting of vibraphone, bass, and drums. Named “SDLW” after the initials of the members’ names, the album features eight tracks (each titled after locations such as Serbia, France, Denmark, and Germany) recorded in high-fidelity at Berlin’s Teldec Studios, with each member serving as both composer and performer. In addition to a 48-page booklet (in English and German) featuring essays by Gregor Dotzauer and Leonie Reineke, as well as interviews with the members and photographs (the Japanese domestic edition includes a separate booklet with Japanese translations), the release comes with a leaflet containing photographs of the composer-performers and scenes from the recording sessions. Pianist Tamara Stefanović, known for her collaborations with her teacher Pierre-Laurent Aimard, is passionate about a wide-ranging repertoire from Bach to contemporary music. She has performed with leading conductors, orchestras, chamber musicians from around the world. In 2019, she performed Ligeti’s Piano Concerto with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Jonathan Nott. Her contemporary jazz project—a collaboration with jazz musicians Christopher Del, Jonas Vestago, and Christian Lillingger successfully premiered at the Cologne Philharmonie in 2020 and has since been breaking new ground in Berlin, Hamburg, and at Klangspuren Schwaz.
