Description:
Composer Paul Ducasse (1865-1935) was born in Paris to a banker father. His works are known for their brilliant orchestration and colorful expression. His most famous work, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," is a confident work that escaped destruction by his overly critical self. It became famous when it was used in the movie "Fantasia. This little-known story is based on a ballad (narrative poem) by Goethe, who wrote it based on the poem "The People Who Love Lies" by Lukianos, a Syrian. In the film, the famous conductor Stokowski modified the orchestration, and the sound of this version is widely known, but here we can enjoy a performance that reflects the "composer's original intention" by using the first draft version explored by conductor Tango, which removes the glamour. La peri" was commissioned by the Russian Ballet.Originally, Peri, the nymph of the lotus flower, was to be played by Natalya Turhanova and King Iskander by Nijinsky, but Diaghilev intervened and Turhanova dropped out, but it is said that Dukas completed the music for her. This work was also almost destroyed, but somehow survived. Written when Dukas was 30 years old, it is the only symphony he left behind, and is a hidden masterpiece that combines lightness, grace, and gravity. Naxos Japan
