Description:
Schubert's masterpiece, the Arpeggione Sonata, has been transformed for various instruments. Of course, it is often played on the flute. The Variations on "Withering Flowers" is a technical work originally written for flute, and the conductor and flutist Grotto gives it a perfect musical performance. The most enjoyable is the "Six Romances," arranged by T. Böhm. The flute here soars with "new songs" that fly freely from the original melody. It is very moving. [Comment courtesy of Naxos Japan.]
