Eagerly anticipated by fans for the past few years—and with Tatsuro Yamashita himself occasionally mentioning the production status—Tatsuro Yamashita’s live album “JOY2” is finally complete.
Following the two “JOY” albums released in 1978—“IT’S A POPPIN’ TIME” and and “JOY,” released in 1989; this marks his third live album overall. However, it comes a full 37 years after the previous release, “JOY,” making it a long-awaited release for fans.
As for the tracklist, Tatsuro Yamashita himself has handpicked the very best of the best takes from over 600 performances across 13 nationwide tours held over an 18-year span, from 2008 to 2025. The 3-disc set features a total of 38 tracks, offering a truly satisfying listening experience.
Disc 1 features “SPARKLE,” “DONUTSONG,” “Our Summer Dream,” “Saturday’s Lover,” “Corridor of the Wind (Corridor)” “Sayonara Natsu no Hi,” and “THETHEMEFROMBIGWAVE”—along with 16 tracks ranging from early masterpieces like “CIRCUSTOWN” to recent hits such as “SYNCOFSUMMER.”
Disc 2 features “SILENTSCREAMER”—sandwiched between “WINDYLADY,” “PAPERDOLL,” and “BOMBER”—along with 10 tracks that epitomize the essence of Tatsuro Yamashita’s live performances, such as “Love’s Boogie-Woogie Train.”
Disc 3 features 10 tracks that truly showcase the essence of Tatsuro Yamashita’s live performances, including “Sobo,” “Zutto Issha sa,” and a wide-ranging selection of 12 tracks—from Tatsuro classics like “High-Pressure Girl,” “Atom no Ko,” and “RIDE ON TIME” to his latest song, “MOVE ON.”
