Description:
In the late 18th century, the invention of the chromatic pedal facilitated chromatic playing on the harp, and it became popular mainly among the French upper class. Paris became the center of the harp's popularity, especially among royalty and the nobility, and its popularity did not wane even after the French Revolution. As a result, between 1750 and 1850, a vast number of works were composed for the harp, and many popular harp arrangements were also made. This album contains "Six Variations on Swiss Songs," which Beethoven wrote for piano or harp, "Three Divertissements," which may be a fake, "Moonlight" by the master John Thomas, "Easy Bagatelle" arranged by Nicolas-Charles Boksa, and the "Piano Sonata No. 1," which is played exactly as originally scored. The "Adagio Grazioso" from Piano Sonata No. 16 is also included in the program. The "Three Divertissements" was found in a castle in Brno, Czech Republic, and it has been pointed out that it may have been written by Count Carl Wilhelm von Haukwitz, who was a friend of Beethoven.Perrucci played only the "Adagio Grazioso" on modern harp, the rest of the works were performed on the Erard harp. Italian harpist Paola Perrucci, whose father was composer Mario Perrucci, graduated at the top of his class from the Pesaro Conservatory at the age of 17, and studied at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and elsewhere. He has devoted himself to the study and performance of historical harp works, and has made recordings of 19th century works and premiered various pieces. He also founded the Charles-Nicolas Boksa Cultural Association, leading academic conferences and holding master classes internationally. Naxos Japan
