Description:
This is a solo album by Meghan Kurtz, a mezzo-soprano singer from South Africa. Originally trained as a pianist, she made her concert debut as a singer at the age of 12, singing Mozart's "Alleluia" with an orchestra. She then studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she received numerous awards. Currently based in Vienna, she is active in both ancient and contemporary music. In this album, she performs works by Handel and Haydn with the Calestini Ensemble Wien, which was formed by her musical colleagues. Kurtz sings beautifully and emotionally with a shaded voice in repertoire that was once sung by castrato singers. Naxos Japan
