Nielsen's masterpiece "Mother" will be unveiled! Nielsen's repertoire for flute includes the well-known dramatic music "Mother," including "The Fog is Clearing" and "The Children are Playing. The complete score, however, was not published until 2007, and this album is the first time that the complete score has been revealed to the modern world. Composed in 1920. It was written to commemorate the return of the southern part of the Jutland Peninsula, the northern part of the Duchy of Schleswig, which once belonged to the King of Denmark, to Danish territory by a referendum after the German withdrawal at the end of World War I. The story, scripted by Helge Rohde, is a fairy tale of a "mother" representing Denmark and a "son" representing the restored region. Nielsen's beautifully patriotic compositions, which include quotations from old Danish songs and the national anthems of the countries that participated in the Great War, add to the significance of what was arguably the most important event in Denmark in the first half of the 20th century. The piece includes many chamber pieces, such as the famous "Fog Clearing" with flute and harp, and concludes with a magnificent orchestral and choral sentiment.Performers are from the composer's native Denmark and conductor Delfs, who hails from the region that remained in Germany from the former Duchy of Schleswig.
