Description:
Martin Opitz was a German poet who participated in the "German Purification Movement" and greatly influenced the artists of his time as a theoretical thinker of Baroque literature. After reading Opitz's book at the suggestion of a friend, composer Kinderman selected texts from it and set them to beautiful music. Kinderman called this collection of songs "Musical Delights" and wanted to convey intellectual stimulation and joy to his listeners, even in these sad times. Therefore, he has made all of his songs concise, without excessive ornamentation throughout, so that the texts will be conveyed honestly to those who have gathered to hear his compositions. Most of the songs are about the joys and sorrows of love, sometimes pastoral, but most are modest and somewhat religious in their solemnity.
