Teen Daze, aka Jamison Izaak, a producer from British Columbia, Canada, never expected to be globetrotting as an adult, but he was fascinated by a French house music video he saw as a teenager, and it continues to He says, "I was fascinated by the French house music videos I saw as a teenager, and that continues to this day." He says, "It was a French house music video I saw as a teenager that cast a spell on him. Inspired by the synthesized sights and sounds from across the ocean, he patiently taught himself primitive software and recording programs, reverse-engineering the cerebral and enchanting world of dance music that had always fascinated him. And ten years later, having amassed a vast discography of dreamy synthpop and romantic electronica, crossing the globe many times in the process, the subtext of his project's journey was clear: Teen Daze is a dream come true.This new album, Interior, is signed to the prestigious Cascine label that has produced Yumi Zouma and others, and was mixed by Joel Ford, known for his work with Oneohtrix Point Never and others, and mastered by Dave Cooley, An ode to the electric future, glimpsed at ecstatic heights from the bedroom to the great room, the album is like a first love refracted through a prism of wisdom, hurt, and wonder. Filter house and flashing lights, soft acid and steamy neon, like a teenager in "Akira" might be listening to. Interior" has a total of eight tracks (the Japanese edition has one additional bonus track, for a total of nine). The multi-instrumentalist Joseph Shabason, whose style straddles jazz and ambient and is also known for his work with DIANA, Destroyer, and The War on Drugs (including the sublime Fantasia opener "Last Time In This Place") and vocalist Cecil Believe (glitchy glam anthem "2AM (Real Love)") evocatively expand the record's palette.Interior" is Jamison's love letter to his own artistic awakening, a paradigm shift of youthful discovery and remote dreams. Songs like "Nite Run," "Nowhere," and "Translation" stand out among Teen Daze's many compositions as a perfect blend of textural subtleties and emotional ups and downs. The music is a combination of skyline, escapism, and sensual energy that seems to rise forever in the never-ending night. The sound floats dreamily out of the bedroom and beyond the dance floor. Without a doubt, this is Teen Daze's most elegant and engaging work in the history of their career.
