Description:

Having lost many musicians in World War I, Britain isolated and protected its best young musicians in the military band (orchestra) during World War II. It was only natural that they became key members of the Philharmonia Orchestra, which Legg founded after the war, and the Philharmonia was an excellent orchestra from the start. At the time when the Berlin Philharmonic and Vienna Philharmonic were still struggling to rebuild after the war, it was hailed as the best orchestra in the world at the time of its 1952 concert tour. From the beginning, it was the signature orchestra of EM (I Columbia, HMV), and excellent recordings are available even in the monaural era. Therefore, we decided to reissue some of these recordings. The second volume is by the famous conductor Nikolai Marko. He was the teacher of Mushin, who is famous as a conductor, and also the predecessor of Mravinsky. His son, George, provided us with his favorite photo for the booklet of this CD. King International
