Description:
The latest work by Martin Frest, a superb clarinetist from Sweden who plays the silence of the night with his incomparably beautiful tone, "The Wizard of the Clarinet." The 19 pieces on this album, which take you to another dimension with the incomparable sound of his clarinet, "the magician of the clarinet," include baroque works by Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, and others, as well as "It Never Entered My Mind," which was famously performed by Chick Corea and Miles, and his own compositions, and is genre Fresto's music is genre-less. Fresto's technique and rich expressive power, which only he could play, are overwhelmingly impressive. Recorded May-October 2021 with clarinet, bass, and piano trio. Martin Frest moved from the bis label to Sony Classical in 2016. He has released two solo albums (import and distribution only) and, in 2018, "Messiaen: Quartet for the End of the World" (SICC30482) with Luca Duvalg (piano), Janine Jansen (violin), and Torleif Tedene (cello).
