Description:
In August 2020, the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra held a two-day "Evening for Peace" concert in Hiroshima. The concert was to feature a new piano concerto inspired by the piano of London-based composer Dai Fujikura, who learned that Akiko's piano had been miraculously restored and preserved after the atomic bombing. However, due to the Corona disaster, she was unable to come to Japan, and instead, the Hiroshima-born pianist Mami Hagiwara gave the first performance of the concerto. In addition, a string quartet version of Beethoven's "String Quartet," which was performed in the memorial year of the concert, a Mahler song with internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Mihoko Fujimura, and Bach's "Chaconne," arranged for orchestra by Hideo Saito, were added to this memorable live album, which is sure to bring hope for the future. Hope for the future can be heard in this commemorative live album.
