Mathieu Dufour, who previously served as principal flutist of the Toulouse Capitale Orchestra and super-soloist of the Paris Opera Orchestra, became principal flutist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1999 at the invitation of Daniel Barenboim. In Japan, he won second prize at the Kobe International Flute Competition, gaining a large following, and as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in subscription concerts conducted by Boulez and Eschenbach, he received rave reviews. Furthermore, since 2009, at the invitation of Dudamel, he has concurrently served as principal flutist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, establishing himself in name and in fact as a world-class flutist on par with Emmanuel Pahud. Dufour’s playing style—marked by astonishing technique, a brilliant yet stable tone, and captivating musicality—is always the talk of the town, and this marks his long-awaited debut album in Japan. Furthermore, ahead of the release, he will grace the covers of magazines such as *Band Journal* and *The Flute*. His partner on this CD is Pascal Rogé, known for his delicate French pianism.
