Jack Tatum's dream pop/shoegaze band Wild Nothing completes its fifth album. Hold, their first self-produced album since their dance music-inspired debut, released on Captured Tracks.Wild Nothing, the band representing Captured Tracks by Jack Tatum, is pleased to announce the release of their new album, " Hold. This new album, their first in five years, is their first self-produced effort since their 2010 debut album, Gemini. In the early days of his fatherhood, Tatum turned to dance music after many sleepless nights. In "Hold," he pays homage to shoegaze and '80s synth-pop while sounding the influences. The album also showcases Tatum's deft songwriting, sharpened by collaborations with Japanese Breakfast and Molly Burch. Tatum's influences range from the darker side of Charli XCX to the techno-pop of Yellow Magic Orchestra, his childhood favorites The Chemical Brothers and Orbital, and the art-rock of Peter Gabriel during the "So" era.I've been warming to this record for a long time and I'm both excited and anxious to get it out there." This is my first record as a father and my first self-produced album since my debut. The album deals with existential themes, but doesn't always take itself too seriously. It is not afraid to be pop, but it is also not afraid to be quirky. It's fun, it's sad, it soaks up the quiet moments and embraces the flashy ones. I'm doing what I love and I'm grateful for it," Tatum says of "Hold". The album features Molly Burch, Becca Mancari, Tommy Davidson (Beach Fossils), Hatchie, and his wife Dana, and was mixed by Geoff Swan (Caroline Polachek, Charli XCX). The album is a direct reflection of the growth he has experienced over the past five years in his solo career and as a songwriter and collaborator.
