Two recordings (both first appearances!) of Alan Holdsworth performing with the Pat Smythe Quartet in 1973 while he was working in Tempest. The album was originally an Iginbottom piece. The album already features "Golden Lakes," a classic song originally written by Iginbottom and later performed with Gordon Beck, and with John Marshall on drums, the sound is a mixture of British neatness and passion, similar to that of the Nuclearius group. The drummer is John Marshall, and you can hear Holdsworth's spectacular performance, which is a precursor of the fluid playing on Soft Machine's "Convergence," in a sound that is a mixture of British neatness and passion.
