Description:

The superhuman Lewis Cole releases his latest album on Brainfeeder for the third year in a row! This album is a collaboration with the Metropole Orchestra, one of the world's leading pop and jazz orchestras! The album also features an orchestral version of the Grammy-nominated "Let It Happen"! Lewis Cole's momentum just won't stop! For the third year in a row, Los Angeles superstar Lewis Cole has released his latest album on Brainfeeder, "nothing," a collaboration with the Metropole Orchestra, one of the world's leading pop and jazz orchestras. Lewis Cole, who has received rave reviews from the likes of Letchli, Thundercat, Quincy Jones, Flying Lotus, and others, quickly came to prominence with the release of "Time" on in 2018. Not only is he a super-tight super-drummer, but his DIY spirit, which allows him to manipulate multiple instruments, record and film at home, and complete mixing and video editing on his own, has earned him worldwide acclaim. From 2022's "Quality Over Opinion," "Let It Happen" was nominated for the 65th Grammy Award, and the following year the album was also nominated for the 66th Grammy Award. In addition, in the past few years, he has not only visited Japan with his own big band and Nowhere, but also came to Japan with Thundercat's band, performed at Fuji Rock '23 on the White Stage as the second day trio, and unexpectedly appeared on NHK E-TV's "Tensai Terebi-Kun". The music played on this album is "The Music of the World". The music on this album is bigger, bolder, and more expansive than any of his previous works. It is jazz. It is classical music. It is funk. You can hear synths and loops. You'll hear a band and, of course, live drums. There is a full orchestra. Some pieces are very brief; others are well over 10 minutes long. For Lewis, jazz has always been a place to be free of all expectations, and in "nothing" with the Metropole Orchestra and Jules Buckley, he embodies that in his music. The Metropole Orchestra is a very famous Dutch orchestra that combines jazz big band and classical symphony orchestra. Founded in 1945, the orchestra has performed with such legends as Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock, Elvis Costello, and Ivan Lins. In recent years, under the direction of principal conductor Jules Buckley, he has won Grammy Awards for his work with Snarky Puppy and Jacob Collier. He has also actively collaborated with a new generation of stars including Robert Glasper, Gregory Porter, and Corey Wong. (1/3)
