Description:
Castle Farm was a powerful guitar-based bluesy hard band active in the UK in the early 1970s. This release features their rare private press singles "Hot-Rod Queen" and "Mascot" (originally released on their own Farm Records label), as well as previously unreleased studio material from 1971-72. Originally a four-piece band, they brought in John Aldrich, who has a legitimate lead guitar style, and the dynamic dual guitar sound complemented by the killer slide work of Glam Tex Benike, a solid rhythm section, and loose, rough vocals. Their sound has taken them around the college and university circuit throughout the UK, supporting major artists such as Rory Gallagher, Deep Purple, Atomic Rooster, Savoy Brown, Climax Blues Band, and Quintessence. The music is wild and skillful, the melodies surprisingly catchy, and the songs loose!
