The second release on the audite label by Anne-Katherine Heinzmann, a virtuoso flutist in the middle ranks of the German flute world, features works for flute and piano by five 20th century composers (E. Schulhoff, L. Smit, H. Gall, G. Raphael, and A. Tanzmann). A. Tanzmann) for flute and piano. Schulhoff and Tansman draw inspiration from Debussy and other French music. Raphael's works have a classical clarity and romantic melodies. Smit studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory before leaving for Paris in 1927, where he was greatly influenced by Ravel and Stravinsky. On April 27 of the same year, he was sent to a concentration camp by the Nazis, where he was murdered on April 30.This sonata was Smit's last work. Anne-Katerine Heinzmann is a female flutist who has been making great strides worldwide since she was selected as the assistant principal of the Frankfurt Opera Orchestra in 1999. She is a talented player who has studied under both German and French masters such as Nicolet and Meisen, and has inherited their style. Thomas Hoppe is a pianist trusted by Perlman and other world renowned performers. In recent years, he and Heinzmann have been performing together as a duo, and the ensemble is perfectly in tune with each other. The program is full of difficult pieces that require high performance technique and expressiveness from both flute and piano, but the ensemble's ever-increasing exquisiteness makes it a pleasure to listen to.
