Description:
New Plumzoller Recording! The Unknown Concerto Collection from Darmstadt! Johannes Plamzoller is a baroque violinist of the "21st century generation" who has made his way from South Tyrol to the world. He is the leader of the Ensemble Diderot and the International Baroque Players, and is also a member of his teacher Rachel Podger's Brecon Baroque. Plumzoller's independent label, Audax Records, has recorded a variety of "unknown works" that have received international acclaim, including a nomination for the German Record Critics Award, The new Audax Records album "Darmstadt Violin Concertos" is a sequel to Plumzoller's debut album "Dresden Violin Concertos" (RK 3105).The works of Johann Jakob Kress (c.1685-1728), a virtuoso musician born in Germany at the same time as J.S. Bach, who served as chamber musician and concertmaster of the Darmstadt Court Orchestra, are included in the program, as well as works by Johann Samuel Entler (1694-1762), who succeeded Kress as concertmaster and Graupner as director of the orchestra. Johann Samuel Entler (1694-1762), who succeeded Kress as Konzertmeister and Graupner as Music Director, as well as works by Telemann and Fasch, who were close friends of Kress and had a close relationship with Darmstadt. With the exception of Telemann, all four works are world premiere recordings. The Darmstadt Baroque Soloists, founded in 2004 by members of the Darmstadt State Orchestra (Darmstadt State Opera Orchestra) and others, performs works by Darmstadt court musicians of the Baroque period.Since 2008, Plumzoller has been using a violin made by Pietro Giacomo Rogelli in 1713, which he inherited from Reinhard Goebel, but this recording uses a violin made by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini in 1745.
