Description:
Long-awaited by fans, this is the first new work by Georges Pachinski in two years. The new album is a piano trio, which does not disappoint. This time, the same members as on the previous album have been assembled, with Stephane Tsapis on piano and Marc Buronfosse on bass. Of course, the recording was done by Vincent Brulée! The members of the band are now all ironclad. The line of this work seems to be an extension of the previous work, "Le Vieux, C'est le Chemin". In "Le Vieux, C'est le Chemin," Pachinski describes a "dream he had one winter night" in which a book by Plotinus, the founder of Neoplatonism, appears, and the music depicts the wandering drama of a philosophical and mysterious story. This work, however, seems to be set against the backdrop of a mysterious story experienced by a traveler. A traveler stands quietly alone in an empty station. A train moving in the opposite direction from the station... Again, the music is mysterious against the backdrop of such a unique worldview. Each of the 16 pieces, the longest of which is only 5 minutes long, has a vivid sound with contrasts of shadows and slow and fast movements. Some scenes are thoughtful and contemplative, as is typical of the French, others are swingy and rolling, and still others are reminiscent of a waltz. There are impressionistic, pale sound spaces and abstract scenes reminiscent of cubism and surrealism... Pataczynski's journey of exploration continues this time as well. At the same time, Vincent Brulée's ability to give the sound a three-dimensional quality is a must-see.The melody of the piano weaves a mysterious story, the brushes of the drums delicately intertwine with the sound, the cymbals open up the space with a sharpness that awakens the listener, and the unique and rich sound of the mallets softly envelopes all of them...all of these are drawn together in a single worldview. The engineer's ability is what makes it all come together in a single worldview. The sound is created by a drummer and engineer who have worked together for many years, and the sound image is produced by an engineer who understands the sound that the artist wants to create. The recording was made in November 2016. Here is the three of them after two years since their last album.
