(gray vinyl)—his first in four years Los Angeles-based Grammy-winning artist Steve Lacy has released his long-awaited new album, Oh Yeah?. His previous album, Gemini Lights, released in 2022, won the “Best Progressive R&B Album” award at the 65th Grammy Awards, and the single “Bad Habit” from that album became a global hit, topping the U.S. singles chart for three consecutive weeks, catapulting Steve Lacy to stardom. Although details about his new album—his third to date and his first in about four years—have not yet been revealed, the lead single “The Feeling” showcases new musical territory with its ethereal, emotional sound rooted in modern pop, alternative, and R&B, further heightening anticipation for the new release. Steve Lacy is a 28-year-old musician and producer from Los Angeles. While active as the guitarist for the popular soul band The Internet, he made his solo debut in 2017 with the EP Steve Lacy’s Demos. His first album, Apollo 21, released in 2019, was widely acclaimed across the industry as a masterpiece that fully showcased his talent as a pop producer, and it was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album. As a producer, he has also worked on projects by major artists such as Kanye West, Solange, and Vampire Weekend. In particular, the track he contributed to Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy-winning album DAMN. caused a major stir when it was revealed that it had been produced entirely on his iPhone. With his third album, Gemini Lights, released in 2022, he won his first Grammy Award for “Best Progressive R&B Album.”
