Organ virtuoso Anna Lapwood continues to create a sensation in the U.K. Debut on Sony Classical! Anna Lapwood's long-awaited debut album on Sony Classical, "Luna," is an organ sensation. It is a new chapter in her exciting musical career. This year alone, she has been remarkably active, winning the prestigious RPS Gamechanger Award from the Royal Philharmonic Society and performing a solo recital at this year's BBC Proms season. Luna" is an album that reflects the full breadth of her impressive career to date, featuring 15 transcriptions of contemporary composers and new film music, in addition to traditional classical repertoire. While the album features Anna primarily as an organist, it also showcases another side of her as a musician, as she conducts the Pembroke College Chapel Choir on two of the recordings. Anna says of the album, "The highlight of my year is the time I spend teaching music in Zambia.I love the people, music, and laughter of Zambia and always look forward to seeing the Zambian night sky for the first time. When I look up at the sky, I see a sky full of stars. Bright stars, dull stars, twinkling stars, stationary stars, glowing spheres, dots smaller than the prick of a pin. The images in this album are like imagining we are standing there, looking at the sky and being overwhelmed by the magnitude of what we can see. As we gaze upwards, our minds travel through the night sky, exploring the individual stars with their unique personalities and characteristics, as we imagine they might take us there." On the Nature of Daylight is a new song composed by Max Richter for the album. He says, "This is a song I've wanted to do on the organ for a long time. When I tossed around the idea with producer Jonathan Allen, he suggested adding a chorus. I feel very special to be able to release this song as the first single from the album, as it brings together two aspects of my musicianship: organ playing and working with Pembroke's wonderful choir."(1/3) Sony Music
